A rare and striking example of Italian postmodern furniture, the “Notorius” sofa by Arcon Italy is a sculptural statement piece that effortlessly blurs the line between seating and art.
Defined by its bold semicircular backrest and an articulated, transformable cushion, the Notorius is designed to shift through multiple configurations—sofa, chaise, or daybed—creating a dynamic silhouette that changes with use. The dramatic central fold allows the cushion to rise, dip, or flatten, giving the piece a sense of movement even at rest.
Upholstered in a vibrant geometric textile set against a deep navy base, the contrast is unmistakably postmodern: playful yet architectural, expressive yet controlled. Every angle reveals a new composition, making this sofa as compelling visually as it is functionally.
Produced in limited numbers and rarely seen on the market, the Notorius is highly sought after.
Upholstery can maybe go for another round but would be better to reupholster (fabric on the matras has equally faded and there are some small holes on the back of the sofa). The fabric on the tube cushions is torn and faded (definate need new upholstery). The upholstery are all covers so fairly easy to reupholster.
