Striking large-scale chrome kinetic wind catcher, believed to date from the 1970s. An unusual sculptural piece combining strong geometric architecture with a delicate arrangement of rotating, cone-shaped wind elements.
The tall polished-metal construction has an almost architectural quality, with an abstract linear upper section (ending in a little abstract human like figure), geometric cut-outs and a substantial circular pedestal base. At its centre is a group of small metal cones and discs designed to respond to moving air, giving the otherwise rigorous structure an unexpected sense of movement.
A particularly interesting decorative object for a Brutalist, Space Age, industrial or modernist interior, and impressive enough to work as a standalone piece of sculpture.
This is a genuine vintage piece and its condition reflects its age. There is significant visible oxidation/rust, spotting, tarnishing, scratches and general surface wear, particularly around the base, welded joints, upper metal elements and wind-catching mechanism. The mirrored chrome also shows marks and imperfections. We have deliberately left these signs of age untouched rather than attempting to restore the piece.
