A striking vintage Murano glass hanging lamp, featuring a substantial hand-formed glass shade in rich amber and clear glass.
The shade has a wonderfully organic, flower-like form, gently flaring towards an irregular, undulating rim. Deep amber glass flows down through the body before gradually giving way to areas of clear glass along the lower edge, creating a particularly attractive contrast when illuminated.
The character of the glass is one of the lamp’s strongest features. Its surface is full of movement and texture, with the subtle irregularities associated with hand-worked glass beautifully catching and refracting the light. When switched off, the shade has the appearance of a sculptural piece of art glass; illuminated, it becomes exceptionally warm and atmospheric, glowing in shades of honey, amber and golden orange.
The glass is complemented by its simple metal ceiling fitting and chain suspension, which allow the shade itself to remain the focus.
